Bloody cyclists
Published 1 year, 3 months ago in Sport & Leisure.I’m sick of cyclists using main roads for training. It’s only a matter of time before one of them gets hit on the coast road stretching north from Mordialloc. And the one who hits one in a car at dusk or later will be branded the worst driver in the world. It’s time they stuck to velodromes.

What?! No, no. The govt should accomodate cyclists everywhere and make cycling easier and safer for all. Regular commuters who choose to cycle instead of drive should be encouraged and rewarded by being given safe and easily accessible paths/roads statewide, everywhere.
What i dont understand, how can a cyclist justify blocking traffic, and traveling at same 10klm, when the zone is 60- or so.

From the way some ride I reckon they must have lost their licences and been caught driving unlicensed so are forced on to bikes. I would hate to see some of them behind the wheel!!
Haven’t we done this one, several times? Pretty funny that you chose to post this one under sport and leisure Tyg.
Cyclist bashing is a sport now!
How about we take a swipe at urban 4-wheel-drivers and their petrol guzzling, atmosphere destroying status symbols, or driver-only commuter-lane hogs.
As a cyclist and a driver I would say that there are dodgy versions of both - but it is the cyclist who will always fare worse off in a collision. I actually think we need to create seperate bike and car lanes so that we don’t risk lives….and get more cars off the road. But it does amaze me how agressive and flippant some cyclists can be when the consequences can be so horrendous….
Our darling green Moonee Valley Council is now planning to put a bike lane along Mt. Alexander Road from Moonee Ponds to Flemington Road. This is one of the busiest and most congested roads in Melbourne, I can guarantee no drivers are going to take any notice of it, especially when you have parked cars and trams to get past. There are off road bike paths they can use safely, along most of the creeks running in to Melbourne, why don’t they use them?? I prefer the Tram or Train anyway, much quicker and cheaper than car.
I refer you to my previous post ‘my love of cyclists’ (still available for a modest fee). Of course with winter and darker evenings approaching I forgot to mention how invisible cyclists can be as they merge into the twilights shadows with ne’er a light to be seen, apparently believing their ridiculously loud attire is visible enough.
Funny how those that are out training have the same look about them, same type of face, expression, they definitely have a manic look about them!
some of them are arragant p*#%ks (usually the I love lycra brigade) and are a danger to themselves and other road users, fair enough they’ve a right to use the road too, but why ride three abreast across a 100km a hour road, make no effort to get out of the way, behave like there isn’t cars on the road and be abusive if you toot them, then have the nerve to sook about car drivers, they need to look at their own stupid behaviour first. the other lot that are stress creaters are the teenage boys & sometimes men that want to ride around at night with no lights and wearing dark clothing, twice this week I’ve watch as they’ve nearly been skittled because they suddenly loom out of the darkness in front of cars, though some blame has to go to the parents.
I have scars all over my body from accidents on a bike - tram tracks, you name it. It’s very dangerous to ride these days and yes, it’s a nuisance but people have the right to work on their fitness and use roads. Just go around them and they might survive!!
Murdering, law breaking, scum bag bike riding moist toilet wipes. Do they grow up to be outlaw bikies?
I don’t get what you’re saying wetblanket. What do you mean?
I was driving near a cyclist and offered my mate a bottle of Smirn Off Vodka if he could reach out the window and slap the cyclsists ass… he missed and we got a shake of the fist lol
Mattsfolio encapsulates precisely what is wrong with our roads and with the wider society. Do you really think this is funny - or safe? So many hoons out there who get their kicks from calling abuse and throwing cans and bottles at cyclists. So who’s the danger on the roads? Grow up, Matt
I wasn’t really going to do it. It was only a joke. I’m not that cruel =)
I might have more time for cyclists if they actually obeyed the road rules themselves. How many times have you seen a cyclist go through a red light or disobey some other road rule.
Until the cyclist change their attitude I wont be changing mine, I just need to control that urge to run them off the road. (And it is there, we have all had it)
